ALL YEAR round you are basically paying for A HALF an hour ONE ON ONE private lesson time with the student, part of which is a small theory lesson. However, During The School Year "ONLY", for ages 6 and older, I like the student to come for an hour--same price. Hence it is a "More For Your Money" music lesson.
The Hour is split equally between their PRIVATE one on one lesson time and Computer Lab time-- or a violin instructional DVD or other pertinent related technology things, tablet apps etc... (I have a HUGE amount of resources for the students-- I love to see the students excel and over the years it shows.). I teach the student a short theory lesson then the student also works about 5 minutes on a theory workbook. I teach them a short bit how to do the workbooks, such as rhythm, note reading, scale study in order to help them know in order to play well. All this is personalized private instruction for the student. You get MORE for your money this way. The hour is tailored to fit each student's personal needs with my more than 20 years of experience guidance.
My hopes for each one is that they will have "music wings" to fly on their own someday. History shows that they do finally sprout the nice "music wings"!
I have a BUNCH (over $1,000 worth) of animated fun Music Education computer programs that I use to reinforce what I have taught at the piano or violin. I track each person so I can give them a well-rounded background in music theory. Elementary level through early intermediate students play with nice sounding CD accompaniments. The student will learn that rhythm is a priority and be able to play with others and have fun. I also put the blue tooth speaker on the piano bench for them to Feel the booming Beat! I love to make Music Fun For You!
The student will have a "study-buddy". WHILE ONE IS ON THE COMPUTER, THE OTHER IS AT THE PIANO OR VIOLIN PRIVATELY. Then they switch places maximizing contact with the music language. Both times are tailored to fit the individual students' needs. I try to schedule together those who would inspire each other, either of a similar age or level, if it is possible to fit in your schedule. This extra lesson time is at no extra cost. You get more for your money!
People can also purchase just the 30 minute lesson and no computer. The price is exactly the same.
This is also a time buffer for if someone is late I start the other student, then you will have no loss of private lesson time. It is also a built in make-up lesson time every lesson. If the other person misses, this extra time can serve as a make-up private lesson time if needed in place of the computer time.
In the big picture this adds up to a lot greater understanding of music. It is all tailored to fit the student’s needs to help them learn faster. Each student has a personalized chart so that I can track what they have completed. It is also nice to vary the ways to learn all the music concepts for attention spans.
It is also good for the student to hear another student's lessons, while they work on the computer. This gives the student more time to digest the music language. They also learn that all pianists and violinists have similar problems. This helps them not to be frustrated, but to just keep working.
Mission: My first job is to help the student to Love music. Then everything is easier. With my experience and concern for each student, Everyone can be successful . Guaranteed!
